The Cachucha
Apparently “Cachucha” sounds like something rather rude in some Spanish speaking countries.
Our rendition seeks to uphold that tradition.

Goose guessing – the answers
The goose gives the answers
We hope you enjoyed the bird quiz in our last issue of GanderS.? Here are the answers:
- Into it we throw – Cock who doesn?t crow! – Yeomen of course
- And if any were fond of pigeon shooting – He’d ask them down to his place at Tooting.? – Tricky one this. It’s Thespis
- His Lordship is constitutionally as blithe as a bird – Quite right.?Iolanthe
- In tendency to fall in love, resemble I the amorous dove?- and again.?Iolanthe
- Jackdaws strut in peacock?s feathers. – – Storks turn out to be but logs – Oh yes Cap’n. It’s HMS Pinafore
- Man is of no kind of use ? Man?s a donkey ? Man?s a goose – Who else but Princess?Ida
- After, say, a month or two – Robin did as Robins do – Here it is again. That?Thespis
- Not at all, the crowing?s done by an accomplished hen!- Got to be Ida. And it is.
- Now what would be the good of that? Why, you goose, I should marry again within a month! – Aha! The Grand Duke
- Oh, why did you go and defy us, you great geese! – Not quite such a memorable one, but it’s still Iolanthe
- On a tree by a river a little tom-tit – A nice easy one for you. The Mikado.
- The languid loves – Of turtle doves – These simple joys are all at hand – Another tricky one. Yes, it’s Utopia
- Upon thy breast – My loving head would rest – As on her nest – The tender turtle dove – Another from Yeomen
- When maiden loves, she mopes apart – As owl mopes on a tree – And again. Yeomen
- At once distrust you surely lull – And rook the pigeon and the gull – And finally. We are back with The Grand Duke

Gondoliers a-coming!
Nearly there! The show starts on Wednesday 21st March.
What a fabulous show we have in store for you this year!? The rehearsals for The Gondoliers have been amazing fun and quite strenuous too!?
The costumes have been booked, the scenery selected and the orchestra primed. We are in business. Everyone is working hard with two rehearsals or more a week under our exciting and innovative production team. Don’t worry though, we are not about to do anything too radical. We are faithful to tradition this year. Well…. Maybe a few innovations!
Ticket sales are better than ever but you can still get a seat if you hurry.? Our lovely new box office page shows you which seats are unsold, so you can choose where you want to sit.
We have our own theatre vouchers too, if you want to give the gift of G&S.

Singing for the Brain
Our Ruth Helps People with Fading Memories – and so can you!
So how does singing help?
Singing for the Brain is a service provided by Alzheimer’s Society which uses singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating social environment.
Singing is not only an enjoyable activity, it can also provide a way for people with dementia, along with their carers, to express themselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive group.
Hidden in the fun are activities which build on the well-known preserved memory for song and music in the brain. Even when many memories are hard to retrieve, music is especially easy to recall.
Ruth Martin our chief publicist, shares her love of singing with two ‘Singing for the Brain’ groups here in Milton Keynes.
‘Singing for the Brain’ is an Alzheimer’s?Society initiative to support people living with mild or moderate dementia and their carers; the groups meet on Monday mornings or afternoons, once a fortnight. The sessions are relaxed and fun, with a varied programme of vocal warm-up exercises and a wide selection of well-known songs from all eras. Ruth is joined by her fellow leader Sue Binnie, with Pete Simpson on keyboard.
Wolverton G&S Society donates free tickets for members of the two ?Singing for the Brain? groups to attend our main show; they are much appreciated by everyone and some members also buy tickets to support our other shows.
Anyone interested in coming along should contact Vicky at Alzheimer’s Society on 01908 232612; we’ve currently got spaces in the morning group.
